Dodge, Ram and FIAT service in Topeka
Something is due, or the truck needs a look, and you want to know what your engine's schedule says.

Service for your Dodge, Ram or FIAT that fits your week
When your truck needs service, you want three answers. How long will you be without it? What is due at your mileage, and does the warranty cover it? This guide answers each one, from our service lane at 3001 South Kansas Avenue in Topeka.
Oil changes, tire rotations and other routine work go through our Express Lane, with no appointment. It is open Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. On Saturday it is open 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. For bigger work, give us your VIN when you book. It tells us your engine's schedule, any open recall and what is left of your warranty.
Driving a diesel Ram? Here is its own service schedule and warranty.
What is a service visit here like?
Your engine decides the schedule
The schedule is set by engine, so we ask for the VIN before we quote anything.
Diesel has its own schedule
A 7,500-mile service schedule, with the DEF level checked at every visit. The oil is changed when the indicator says so.
Express Lane, walk in
Oil and filter, tire rotation, a battery test, and a multipoint checkup are all on our Express Lane list.
What a service visit at Briggs Dodge Ram FIAT looks like
Step 1: Give us the VIN
The schedule is set by engine, so the right one depends on the engine listed in your VIN.
Step 2: Say whether it is a gas or a diesel
Gas and diesel run on different schedules: 10,000-mile intervals versus 7,500.
Step 3: Decide whether it is Express Lane or booked
Set jobs go through the Express Lane. Anything that needs diagnosis needs an appointment.
Step 4: Drop off on a weekday morning, or on Saturday
The lane opens early, and Saturday covers the weeks when no weekday works.
Step 5: We read the schedule, the warranty and any open recall
Including whether a FlexCare or Mopar Vehicle Protection contract still covers the work.
Step 6: You approve, we do the work, and what you defer is written down
So the next visit starts from a record.
What will you tell me if I give you my VIN?
We tell you the service due at your mileage, on your engine's schedule. We also tell you about any open recall, and what is left of your warranty or FlexCare contract.
For an oil change or a rotation you do not need an appointment at all. The Express Lane takes you as you arrive.
Book a service visit
What should you expect on the day?
How long will I be sitting here?
An Express Lane oil change or rotation is done while you wait. For booked work, we tell you the time when you book.
- The expected time, before your visit.
- Whether you plan to wait with the car.
- What happens if the job runs long.
- A number we can reach you on.
An Express Lane job and a booked repair take different amounts of time. Let us know which one you need.
Will the bill be what I was quoted?
You see the estimate before the work starts, and you approve anything added to it.
- The estimate in writing, if you would like it.
- Your approval before any extra work starts.
- How much of the total is parts and how much is labor.
- What can safely wait until next time.
Anything you decide can wait goes on your record, so the next visit starts from it.
Is it only an oil change?
No, more is often due at the same mileage. We check your engine's schedule, so anything else due can go on the same visit.
- The oil grade and the filter specified.
- Whether a tire rotation is due as well.
- The inspections that come along with it.
- Anything else the maintenance schedule lists.
An oil change and a tire rotation often fall due together, and asking in advance turns two trips into one.
How do I get to work while you have it?
Drop the truck off early on a weekday, on your way to work. We confirm what applies to your date when you book.
- What is available on your date.
- How much time the job needs, so you can plan your ride.
- Whether an early drop-off suits you better.
- The time you need to be at work.
Ask about a loaner or a ride when you book.
Does servicing here protect my warranty?
Yes, and every visit here builds a complete service record on your VIN.
- Service on the schedule written for your engine.
- The parts and fluids the manual lists.
- An invoice for every visit, kept with the car.
- Warranty repairs done at a dealer, which we are.
That record stays with the car and works for you at trade-in time.
What do I need ready when I call?
We need four answers from you.
- Have your VIN ready.
- Let us know whether you are waiting or leaving the car.
- Describe the noise or the warning light for us.
- Tell us the date you need it back.
With those four answers ready, drop-off at the counter goes smoothly.
Wondering what your engine's schedule says?
Send the VIN. We pull the table for your engine and tell you which service is due at your mileage. We also check whether a FlexCare or Mopar Vehicle Protection contract still covers it.

What service work do we handle?
| What you need | How you get it | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Oil and filter change | Express Lane | On the oil change indicator. |
| Chassis lube | Express Lane | Trucks need it more. |
| Tire rotation with brake inspection | Express Lane | Tread and pressures checked too. |
| Battery test and replacement | Express Lane | Test, and replace when it is due. |
| Air filter and wiper blades | Express Lane | Small items that otherwise wait for a booked appointment. |
| Multipoint checkup | Included on an Express visit | Not a separate charge or a separate trip. |
| Diesel service | Booked, on the diesel schedule | DEF checked every 7,500 miles and two fuel filters on the schedule. |
| Engine coolant flush | Booked | Coolant, the ten-year item. Some models need special tools. |
| Diagnosis and repair | Booked | Anything where the fault has to be found first. |
| Recall and campaign work | At no cost to you | One VIN lookup covers all five brands. |
You want the full picture on service before you book
1. Why do you need my VIN before you quote me?
| What you might look for | What you will find | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| A general Mopar schedule | Set by the engine, whatever the brand | Your owner's manual and the Mopar schedule tool both list it for your engine. |
| What Mopar provides | A table, once you give year, brand and model | It is engine specific. |
| The same truck, two engines | Two different schedules | A gas Ram and a diesel Ram do not share a schedule. |
| The gas grid | 10,000-mile columns, 20,000 through 150,000 | The same shape across the gas engines. |
| The diesel grid | 7,500-mile columns, 7,500 through 150,000 | Inspections every 7,500 miles; the oil change follows the indicator. |
| Where the oil change appears | A row with the mileage left blank | The oil change indicator sets it. |
| What we need from you | Year, brand, model and engine | The VIN covers all four. |
A quote based on mileage alone is an estimate, because the schedule depends on the engine.
Give us the VIN and we will pull the schedule table for your engine. We will tell you exactly what is due at your mileage.

2. If it is a diesel Ram, the schedule is different
| Service or coverage | Gas | Diesel |
|---|---|---|
| Service interval | 10,000-mile columns | 7,500-mile columns, with DEF checked at every one. |
| Oil change, Ram 2500 and 3500 | When the oil change indicator says | The same. The truck tells you when the oil is due. |
| Powertrain coverage | 5 years or 60,000 miles | 5 years or 100,000 miles. The standard terms, and the biggest difference between the two. |
| 10-Year/100,000-Mile Limited Powertrain Warranty, 2026 and newer | 10 years or 100,000 miles | Original owner of a 2026 or newer Ram bought new, gas or diesel. |
| Diesel exhaust fluid | Not applicable | Checked and refilled at every 7,500-mile service. |
| Fuel filters | Not a scheduled item | Two, front and rear, both every 15,000 miles. |
| Engine air filter | Replaced every 30,000 miles | On the 6.7 Cummins there is a hard ceiling: never beyond 30,000 miles or 24 months. |
| What that adds up to | A familiar rhythm | A working diesel adds service items a gas truck skips, including DEF and a second fuel filter. |
The diesel also gets the longer warranty. Under the standard terms, a diesel powertrain runs to 100,000 miles and gas runs to 60,000. If you keep your trucks, that longer coverage is worth having.

3. When are the coolant, air filter and oil due?
| Service | The interval | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Engine coolant | 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first | The longest interval on the schedule. A ten-year-old vehicle is due regardless of mileage. |
| Engine air filter, 6.7 Cummins | By 30,000 miles or 24 months | Replaced on time or mileage, whichever comes first. |
| Engine oil | Whenever the indicator says | That is why the schedule leaves that row's mileage blank. Your VIN tells us the rest of the schedule. |
The ten-year coolant change arrives long after the others. Almost nothing else on a modern vehicle has a decade-long interval.
If your vehicle is around that age, the coolant is due.

4. What the Ram warranty covers
| The coverage | How long it runs | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Limited Warranty | 3 years or 36,000 miles | Bumper to bumper, from the body to the electrical system. |
| Basic warranty transfer | To the next owner | Useful if you sell within three years, and when you buy used. |
| Towing | Part of the basic warranty | Not a separate roadside product. |
| Gas Powertrain Limited Warranty | 5 years or 60,000 miles | Parts and labor to repair a covered powertrain component. |
| Diesel Powertrain Limited Warranty | 5 years or 100,000 miles | The extra coverage on the diesel, and a reason to keep your service record in order. |
| 10-Year/100,000-Mile Limited Powertrain Warranty | 10 years or 100,000 miles | On a 2026 or newer Ram bought new, for the original owner. |
| What powertrain means here | Engine internals and more | Including intake and exhaust manifolds, the oil and water pump and the supercharger on the models that have one. |
| Wear items | Checked on every Express visit | Brakes, wipers and tires are wear items, and we replace them when measurement says they are due. |
Basic coverage transfers to the next owner and includes towing. A used Dodge or Ram within three years and 36,000 miles still carries it.
We compare your paperwork to the in-service date. You know what is covered before the work starts.

5. If you bought Mopar Vehicle Protection, it has a new name
| Your question | Quick reply | More on it |
|---|---|---|
| Is Mopar Vehicle Protection gone? | Replaced by FlexCare in January 2025 | FlexCare is the global brand for vehicle service contracts. |
| Did my coverage change? | No | You receive the same factory-backed coverage and customer service either way. |
| Do the old FAQs still apply? | Yes | They apply equally to both names. |
| Where is it honored? | Every authorized Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and FIAT dealer | Including here. |
| How long can it run? | Up to 8 years and 125,000 miles | Depending on the plan you hold. |
| What are the tiers? | Three mechanical levels | The top one covers over 5,000 components; the next covers over 800 major ones. |
A contract in the drawer that says Mopar Vehicle Protection is still good here. Only the name on the paperwork changed.
Bring it in. We read what is left on it against your mileage before any large repair is authorized.

6. Quick, defined work runs on the Express Lane
| What you need | How it works here | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Oil and filter change | Express work | The main job of the Express Lane. |
| Chassis lube | Express work | Trucks need it most. |
| Tire rotation with brake inspection | Express work | Plus a tire wear and pressure check. |
| Battery test and replacement | Express work | Test, and replace when it is due. |
| Multipoint checkup | Included | Not a separate charge or visit. |
| Air filter and wiper blades | Express work | The small items that otherwise wait for a booked slot. |
| Coolant and fluid checks | Checked and topped off | A check and top-off, which is not the same as the ten-year coolant flush. |
| Anything needing diagnosis | Book it instead | A warning light or an intermittent fault needs an appointment with time set aside to find the fault. |
On the Express Lane an oil change or a rotation is done while you wait.
Everything on that list is defined work with a known scope. When a truck needs a fault found, we book it in and give it the time it needs.

7. When are we open, and who will you see?
| Your visit | How it works | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday service | Monday to Friday, from early morning | Drop the vehicle off on your way to work. |
| Saturday | Morning into early afternoon | 7 AM to 2 PM. |
| Sunday | Closed | Saturday morning is our weekend slot. |
| Where we are | 3001 South Kansas Avenue, Topeka | Dodge, Ram and FIAT all come to the same lane. |
| Our advisors | There are two, and you can ask for the one you know | Either one takes your visit from booking to pickup. |
| Our technicians | Nine of them | Listed on our staff page, alongside our advisors. |
| Warranty questions | A dedicated warranty clerk | So a warranty or FlexCare claim is handled by someone whose job it is. |
| Spreading the cost | Service and Parts Financing through Sunbit | Applied for online, with no hard credit check. |
| A loaner or a ride | Ask when you book | We confirm what applies to your visit. |

8. Checking your VIN for open recalls
| Recalls | What it covers | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Mopar's recall lookup | One search for all five brands | Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and FIAT together. |
| Reimbursement | For previous recall-related costs | If you already paid for something that later became a recall, say so. |
| The Takata Stop-Drive advisory | Certain vehicles built 2003 to 2016 | Owners are asked not to drive these vehicles until the repair is done. Call us first and we will arrange it. |
| Why it comes first | A stop-drive advisory | We put it ahead of routine work and arrange the repair with you. |
| Bringing it to us | Recall work is at no cost to you | Ask about it at any visit. |
Many of the affected vehicles have changed hands or addresses since they were built. We run the VIN for any owner, letter or not.
For every other recall, we run the VIN. Any open work goes on the same visit as whatever else is due.

Who you will meet in the lane
| Who | On the team | What they do on your visit |
|---|---|---|
| Service advisors | Two | Your point of contact from booking to pickup. You are welcome to ask for the same one each time. |
| Technicians | Nine | The diagnosis and the booked work, gas and diesel, on Dodge, Ram and FIAT. |
| Service warranty clerk | One | Checks your warranty and any FlexCare contract to see whether the job is covered before the work starts. |
| Express Lane | No appointment | Oil and filter, rotation, battery, filters and wipers while you wait. |
FAQs
Which schedule
What is the Dodge service schedule?
The schedule is set by the engine in your vehicle, whatever the brand. Give us the VIN, and we will pull yours.
How often is my gas vehicle due?
The gas grid runs in 10,000-mile columns from 20,000 through 150,000 miles. What is due at each of those mileages depends on your engine.
Why is there no mileage against the oil change?
Because your vehicle uses an oil change indicator. The oil row in the schedule has no mileage against it. The car tells you when to change it.
Do Dodge, Ram and FIAT share a schedule?
The schedule follows the engine, so two vehicles with the same badge and different engines are on different schedules.
Diesel
Is the diesel Ram on a different schedule?
Yes, and substantially. The diesel grid runs in 7,500-mile intervals from 7,500 through 150,000 miles, with DEF checked at each one. The oil follows the indicator.
How long is the diesel powertrain warranty?
5 years or 100,000 miles, compared with 5 years or 60,000 miles on gas. On a qualifying 2026 Ram, the original owner gets 10 years or 100,000 miles on either.
How often is DEF dealt with?
The DEF tank is checked and refilled if necessary at every 7,500-mile diesel service. It is a scheduled item.
How many fuel filters does the diesel have?
Two, front and rear, and both are on a 15,000-mile replacement interval.
Is there a limit on the diesel air filter?
Yes. On the 6.7 Cummins the engine air filter is due by 30,000 miles or 24 months, whichever comes first.
Long intervals
When does engine coolant need replacing?
At 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. It is the longest interval on the vehicle, and it usually arrives on the calendar.
Warranty
What does the basic warranty cover?
3 years or 36,000 miles of bumper to bumper coverage, from the body to the electrical system. It is also transferable and it includes towing.
Does the warranty transfer if I sell?
Yes. The basic limited warranty is transferable, which helps both when you sell and when you buy used.
How long is the gas powertrain warranty?
5 years or 60,000 miles, covering the parts and labor to repair a covered powertrain component.
What counts as powertrain?
More than the engine block. Powertrain covers engine internals plus the intake and exhaust manifolds. It also covers the oil and water pump, and the supercharger where one is installed.
Are brakes and wipers covered?
Those are wear items, checked on every Express Lane visit and replaced when measurement says they are due.
FlexCare
What happened to Mopar Vehicle Protection?
It was renamed. FlexCare replaced Mopar Vehicle Protection in January 2025 and it is the global brand for vehicle service contracts. Either way, you receive the same factory-backed coverage.
My contract says Mopar Vehicle Protection. Is it still valid?
Yes. Whether you purchased FlexCare or Mopar Vehicle Protection, you continue to receive the same factory-backed coverage and customer service.
How long can an extended plan run?
Up to 8 years and 125,000 miles depending on the plan, across three mechanical tiers. The top tier covers over 5,000 components and the next covers over 800 major ones.
Express Lane
What else does the Express Lane do?
Oil and filter, chassis lube, and tire rotation with brake inspection. It also checks tire wear and pressure, and tests and replaces batteries. A multipoint checkup, air filter, wiper blades, and coolant and fluid checks with top-offs are on the list too.
Should I use the Express Lane for a warning light?
A warning light gets a booked slot, with time set aside to find the cause. The lane is for work with a known scope.
Your visit here
When is the service department open?
Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We are closed Sunday.
Recalls
How do I check for a recall?
One Mopar VIN lookup covers Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and FIAT, and it also handles reimbursement for previous recall-related costs. A Takata Stop-Drive advisory covers certain vehicles built between 2003 and 2016. If yours is one of them, call us before driving it and we will arrange the repair.
People also ask
When should Dodge engine coolant be changed?
Ten years or 150,000 miles, whichever arrives first, so an older truck is due on the calendar.
Is Mopar Vehicle Protection still available?
FlexCare replaced Mopar Vehicle Protection in January 2025. You continue to receive the same factory-backed coverage and customer service.
How do I check a Dodge or Ram recall by VIN?
We run your VIN through one Mopar recall lookup for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and FIAT. It also handles reimbursement for earlier recall-related costs.
