In life, we often have times where we feel like something is wrong, and we get a bad feeling about a person, place, or thing. We also feel pain, hunger, thirst, and other signals in parts of our bodies where something needs to be addressed. Cars have none of these feelings, but they do have a check engine light, and when that light goes on, it’s time to take care of something in your engine. We here at Briggs Dodge Ram FIAT are here to help you diagnose your check engine light.
A check engine light is connected to your car’s computer, which connects to all the sensors in your fuel system. When there’s a problem or uncommon occurrence in your fuel system, the sensors will notice a change in the composition of gases passing through to the exhaust. They then let the computer know something outside of normal has happened, and the computer logs a code and turns on your check engine light. So unless your check engine light is blinking (in which case, stop the car and get a tow immediately), your check engine light means that a sensor detected something abnormal.
This is where our certified technicians come in. Since they are experts in car repair, they know exactly how the fuel system can malfunction. Once they read the code generated from the computer, they’ll know which sensor went off and start looking at all the problems that can cause that reading to happen. They’ll investigate and inspect the parts involved, find the strange reading source, and then report back to you.
If a part in your fuel system needs to be replaced, we’re proud to carry Dodge, Ram, and Fiat parts directly from the manufacturer. This means that when your check engine light goes off because a part has broken, we can put in the exact same (but functional) part so that your engine functions like it always has. OEM parts protect you from incompatibility and other issues that can arise from third-party parts.
