The iconic Dodge Charger looks to maintain its iconic status with improvements for the 2022 model year. Let’s take a look at what’s new in regards to styling and features.
The biggest new feature for the 2022 Charger was recently announced by Dodge: we’re getting a 1,000 horsepower Dodge Charger SRT Ghoul in 2022. This ridiculously high powered Charger variant will be powered by a Hellephant V8 crate engine and will reportedly make 950 lb-ft of torque alongside 1,000 horsepower. Dodge will only make 100 Ghouls, each being priced at around $200,000, so these will not be easy to get a hold of. If you’re one of the lucky 100 people to drive this beast, enjoy it.
There will be six different engine options for the 2022 Charger. The first is the standard 3.6-liter V6 that makes 292 horsepower. Next is a 5.7-liter V8 engine that will produce 370 horsepower. A 6.4-liter V8 engine that’s rated at 485 horsepower is the next available engine. Finally, two supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engines are available, with one making 717 horsepower and the other making 797 horsepower. All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Dodge has implemented some nice interior amenities for the 2022 Charger. You’ll find a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with four USB ports, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and satellite radio. The upper trim levels have an 8.4 inch touchscreen available with a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Dodge has also added some great safety features to the new Charger, such as a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) gave the 2021 Charger a five-star safety rating, and it’s expected that the rating will be the same for 2022.
Dodge has yet to announce the release date for the 2022 Charger, though based on previous years we’re guessing it will begin going on sale later this year. Stay tuned for more information regarding the 2022 Charger, we’ll keep you updated.
