It’s an exciting time to be a Dodge fan. They just became the first domestic marque ever to rank No. 1 in the highly regarded annual ranking of initial quality by J.D. Power, tying for the top spot. Fiat Chrysler made an impressive seven spot leap from last year’s ranking, showing the rise in quality for the iconic brand. If you don’t know what the J.D. Power Initial Quality study is, it’s a study that analyzes vehicle performance during the first three months of ownership.
This is one of the first big achievements for Fiat Chrysler CEO, Mike Manley, who was appointed in 2018. Fiat Chrysler began its rise over the previous decade under Sergio Marchionne, who was succeeded by Mike Manley due to his unfortunate death in July 2018. Under Marchionne Fiat Chrysler had become as profitable as General Motors and Ford, the other two in the “Big Three” of automakers in Detroit.
“These results reflect the relentless, whatever-it-takes attitude of our team,” Mark Champine, head of quality for Fiat Chrysler in North America, said in a press release. “Our complete focus is the customer and these outcomes reinforce that we are on-target. The team is going to be inspired and motivated and will continue to push forward.” It’s clear that the team at Fiat Chrysler has reached a new level of productivity and a new level of quality within their ranks.
Fiat Chrysler’s impressive rise in J.D. Power’s ranking will greatly improve the company’s reputation, and help in the U.S. pickup-truck and utility-vehicle markets, which are extremely competitive. Despite the competitiveness, Dodge trucks and Dodge’s other vehicles have made a stunning rise in popularity. It’s safe to say the Fiat Chrysler will be fighting for the top spot in the J.D. Power ranking for years to come.
