The Dodge brand is beginning to expand its lineup of vehicles starting in the 2023 model year, though there is much more on the horizon. The expansion kicks off with the brand-new 2023 Dodge Hornet, a compact crossover that will be available in both gas and plug-in hybrid electric powertrain options. This is the first brand-new nameplate for the brand since the short-lived Dodge Dart in 2013, and we cannot wait for it to arrive right here in Topeka, Kansas. Read on below to get some of the details about the upcoming vehicle, which will be available right here at Briggs Dodge RAM upon release!
Being touted as the industry’s quickest, fastest and most powerful utility vehicle available for less than $30,000, the Dodge Hornet GT – which will be the name of the gas-powered version of the vehicle – promises performance. Beneath its hood rests a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine capable of generating more than 265 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful engine in its segment. It can also manage to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds in Sport Mode.
Perhaps even more exciting for a lot of shoppers looking to make the move to the electrified future of the industry, the Dodge Hornet R/T is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle capable of generating 285 hp and 383 lb-ft. of torque, more than the conventional powertrain. While this is the Dodge brand’s first foray into electrification, it already shows what the brand is capable of in the space, and we cannot wait to feel it accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds with its PowerShot feature, which adds 25 extra horsepower.
Any modern vehicle regardless of powertrain type is expected to be packed full of advanced driver-assistance systems, and the Hornet certainly follows this trend. Standard features include Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Support System and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path. Opting for the Tech Pack adds even more autonomy to the Hornet, with Intelligent Speed Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Driver Attention Assist, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Lateral Control and Lane Support.
